Client Rights
Each Client has the at least the following rights:
- To privacy in treatment and personal care.
- To choose your health care provider.
- To be informed of client’s responsibilities.
- To receive appropriate service/supplies without discrimination in accordance with physician orders.
- To be fully informed of limitations in service/supplies provided.
- To be informed of any financial benefits when referred to an organization.
- To be fully informed in advance about products and services to be supplied by Music City Medical Supply and any financial responsibilities regarding the provision of supplies and/or services.
- To be free to voice grievances/complaints regarding treatment or care, lack of respect of property or recommend changes in policy, service, staff or service without restraint, interference, coercion and without fear of discrimination or reprisal.
- To have any grievances/complaints regarding supplies or service that is (or fails to be) furnished, or lack or respect of property investigated.
- To be fully informed in advance of any changes in the supplies or services provided by Music City Medical Supply when those changes may affect the clients well-being.
- To have one’s property treated with respect, consideration and recognition of client dignity and individuality.
- To be free from mental and physical abuse. Should this right be violated, Music City Medical Supply must notify the Department of Health within five (5) business days and the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Adult Protective Services immediately.
- To refuse treatment. The client must be informed of the consequences of that decision, and the refusal and its reason must be reported to the treating physician and documented in the medical record.
- To have his or her records kept confidential and private. Written consent by the client must be obtained prior to release of information except to persons authorized by law. If the client is mentally incompetent, written consent is required from the client's legal representative. The agency must have policies to govern access and duplication of the client's record.
